How the Food Industry Influences Nutrition and Health

When was the last time you consumed soda? Most likely, it wasn't that long ago. You may even drink several cans or bottles each day. In the U.S, carbonated soft drinks are a huge business. Every year, they generate more than $50 billion in annual sales.
Two companies - Coca-Cola and PepsiCo -- dominate the soda market. They are in a constant battle for the market share of the product - a conflict known as the Cola War. Hundreds of millions of dollars are spent annually for advertising. Not surprisingly, the companies are always looking for new markets. And, increasingly, they are directing their attention to adolescents and children.
For decades, schools have allowed soda to be sold in on-site vending machines. So, generating income for schools from the sale of soda is not a new policy. However, in the early 1990s, pouring-rights contracts emerged. These put a different spin on the sale of soda in schools. And, over the years, they have increasingly gained in popularity.
In return for the exclusive sale of one-company's product, pouring-rights contracts give school districts large lump-sum payments and extra payments and/or gifts over a period of five or 10 years. The contracts provide additional incentives for consumption levels that surpass quotas. So, they tend to encourage the consumption of higher amounts of soda, even by the youngest students. In one of the most extravagant contracts, a 53-school district in Colorado, gave up its Pepsi vending machines and signed an $8 million, 10 year agreement with Coca-Cola that included cash bonuses when sale targets were exceeded and a new car for a senior with high grades and perfect attendance. But, even the smaller contracts tend to be generous. The goal is to create brand loyalty among young people - a loyalty that could continue throughout their lives. Without a doubt, administrators in cash-strapped school districts have a litany of reasons to be enticed. But, adherence to the contracts may be taken to extremes. For example, a Georgia student was suspended when he wore a shirt with a Pepsi logo to a student government-sponsored Coke Day rally.
So what is contained in a typical soda that may be found in a school vending machine? A 20-ounce screw-top plastic bottle of soda has 275 calories. While there are other ingredients such as flavorings and caffeine, the soda is primarily sugar and carbonated water. High in calories and zero in nutritional value, it is the quintessential junk food. The Center for Science in the Public Interest refers to soft drinks as liquid candy. Since the bottles have screw-tops, the liquid may be sipped throughout the day, thereby bathing the teeth with sugar and upsetting dentists. While it is unclear how many sodas a typical student might drink in one day, one is not a bad guess. Just one a day means 1925 empty calories per week. Heavy users drink more than one soda per day. Children who begin drinking soda when they are still young tend to increase the amount they consume through adolescence into young adulthood. Many children drink more soda than juice or milk. While juice and whole milk contain about the same amount of calories as soda, they contain useful vitamins and minerals. Juice and milk are far better nutritional options.
Although the relationship cannot be proven conclusively, soda consumption correlates with obesity. Children who drink sodas take in more calories, are fatter and have worse diets than those who don't. If you need to lose weight, start by replacing sodas with water, fat free or 1% milk, or 100% juice (but not too much).

6 Keys To Getting Maximum Results In Minimum Time With Your

I used to love going to the gym. The sounds, the smells, the grunts, the groans. Nothing seemed more inspiring. Then life got in the way. I got busy. Very busy.

Working with my fitness clients and athletes took up a lot of time, and frankly, I wasn't too thrilled about taking the time to drive to the gym anymore. I do have a life, you know. Then there was the fight for parking not to mention the fact that I had to wait to use the equipment while someone else finished up his or her workout. I didn't really like the music they played so loud I had to shout over it so my training partner could hear me, and the sales staff was constantly hounding me for referrals.

But I have to tell you about my new favorite place in the world to workout. My home studio. In fact, I like it so much that I recommend that everyone train at home if a gym membership isn't up your alley. It's got everything in it that I want, and everything that I need to successfully train. AND get this it didn't cost me an arm and a leg.

Training at home has been so successful for me and some of my clients, I've set up an online facility that will allow me to personal train anyone in their home. You can give it a look at www.thebodymatrix.com. The greatest part about it is you don't even need equipment if you don't have any. Bodyweight workouts are phenomenal for conditioning and weight loss. Obviously, if your goals are more specialized, some equipment may be necessary.

Consider this. How much do you have to spend each year for a health club or gym membership? Now add up all the years you've gone to the gym and all the years you will go to the gym for the rest of your life. That's a big chunk of change! When you think about it, it makes total sense to buy your own equipment and do it at home.

There's no drive to the gym. No waiting. No annoying sales people. You can listen to the music that you want to (or put a TV in the gym for cardio training). Oh, and the best part is that it's always open. Want to get in a good workout on Christmas day. You can.

Here's the tricky part. You can't just go out and buy whatever equipment seems popular on TV or in magazines. Do that and you'll be unhappy in less than a month. You need a plan to determine what you need in the way of equipment to successfully achieve your fitness goals.

The following 6 points are MUSTS if you want to save time, money, and maximize your success in a minimum of time.

1. Define your personal fitness goals as specifically as you can. For any fitness-related goal there are a number of methods you can use to be successful, but first you have to know where you're going. Do you want to get stronger? Do you want to build muscles? Lose weight or reduce your body fat? Increase endurance? Reduce stress? Are you preparing for a sport? All the above? Without knowing that you could end up spending more money than you need to on equipment that you'll never fully utilize. Not to mention you may fail in your attempts to achieve your goals.

2. How much space are you willing to devote to your home gym? If you've only got a 5 x 5 space at home, you're really going to have to be efficient. Don't expect to fit large pieces of fitness equipment into such a small space. Be realistic. Maybe it's time to clear out the room you're using for storage or that corner of the garage that is just wasted space. Maybe you've got some space, but you'll need to make your gym a little more portable so you can store it away when it's not in use.

3. Familiarize yourself with your options on types and brands of exercise equipment. Find out what you'll be comfortable with. Would you invest in a house or car without looking at several options or a test drive? Remember, this is an investment in you. There are all types of equipment from treadmills and crosstrainers, to selectorized weight equipment, to barbells and dumbbells. Check out equipment on the Internet or in catalogues. Stop by the exercise equipment retailers and actually see it and even try it out before you even consider buying. Believe me this is time well spent. When the time comes to discuss equipment with the appropriate person, be it a salesperson or a fitness professional, you won't be completely in the dark when it comes to determining your wants and needs and end up buying something you hate or won't use.

4. Consult with a fitness professional. Take advantage of a professionals in the trenches experience and educational background when it comes to matching your fitness-related goals with selecting the appropriate equipment for you. Again, this saves you time and money by preventing you from wasting money on useless or poorly designed equipment. You may also find that your fitness professional may have relationships with fitness equipment retailers which will allow you to buy your equipment at a discount.

5. Always buy top quality equipment from a reputable retailer. Yes, it costs more money, but as the saying goes, You get what you pay for. This is so true when it comes to exercise equipment. Avoid the temptation of trying to save a couple dollars by buying equipment that may not be up to your required standards. Buying top quality equipment will last you a lifetime. If you have any doubt, compare how much you have or could have spent on gym memberships over your lifetime with the cost of your new fitness equipment. I have no doubt that you will always spend less money on your home gym than you ever would by purchasing a lifetime of gym memberships.

6. Utilize local retailers as much as you can. While it may seem logical to save money by purchasing equipment online or via a catalogue, shipping charges on fitness equipment can be outrageous. You end up spending more than if you shopped at your neighborhood retailer. There is also an issue of maintenance. Even the best equipment can experience the occasional breakdown. Try getting a mail-order company to service your equipment. It's not easy. Your local retailer can usually resolve your problems in no time at all.

There you have it. These recommendations will help you tremendously. Please keep in mind that it's just not as easy as it seems, but it is worth the extra time especially when you're making such a serious investment in yourself. That's why I encourage you to seek the help of a fitness professional.

If you're sick, you go to the doctor. If you've got a tax problem, you see an accountant (or an attorney!). Have a toothache? You're off to the dentist. Leaky pipes result in a call to the plumber. So why is it that so many people attempt to solve their health and fitness problems without consulting an expert? I don't know exactly, but I encourage you to make the investment in yourself - in your quality of life - by hiring a qualified professional to educate you and help you get started.

If I can be of any assistance to you, please don't hesitate to call me. I'm happy to speak with you and give you my recommendations without any sales pressure (I hate it when people try to sell me, so I wouldn't try that on you).

Balancing Wisdom & Love

The light & energy template, which I work with on the body, connects the head with the heart. Doing this energy work alignment, balances wisdom with love. When these two chakras are connected up and balancing one another, it is so much easier to see and feel negative beliefs pop up and make a play for overtaking your body.

The grace of being able to feel that vast abundance of universal love is truly a blessing. All too often the mind will run it's negative programs of fear and lack. Sometimes it may even be hard to discern what negative beliefs are running our minds. We just know that something feels tight, and we would rather it not be there.

Recently I bought a book called the, Path of Empowerment by Barbara Marciniak. She channels for the Pleiadians. A good segment of the book has to do with how feelings are always connected to beliefs and how one of the main reasons that all of us are here on Earth doing our journeys of life and death, has to do with managing energy. This means taking responsibility for the fact we decided to be here at this time, and that we all create our reality.

First we have to be inside of the body, consciously breathing, to know that what we are feeling isn't serving our best interests. This isn't easy to do sometimes. Stress is fed by the electromagnetic polluters of the environment, such as microwaves, cell phones, computers etc. These electronic instruments tend to drain our energy. This is only one of the negative influences in our environment, but right now it is a mighty big one.

Negative beliefs are part of the program we are fed, from the time of conception, by society. Of course now the energy dynamics have changed since the Harmonic Convergence in 1987. The polarities that we set up in our imprints aren't being carried over into the genetic code of the New Children, (read Indigos, Crystals, Diamonds etc) who are coming in now.

Those of us who aren't New Children are still cycling the negativity of society's imprints within our subconscious, and unconscious. The other night I was meditating and all of a sudden I felt something wrapped around the right lobe of my brain. It was a very constrictive feeling. I asked spirit for guidance. I traced the feeling back to the beliefs: It's the nature of duality to be against whatever I want to create. There's always something outside of me that will prevent me from manifesting my intent. It's always going to be against me!!!

I released these beliefs via a prayer that Benu (the Arch Angel Gabriel) gave us. As soon as I said the prayer and separated my hands and acknowledged it was permanently and fully released, I envisioned this golden/lime green light turn into a snake and slither out of the right lobe of my brain.

I had never had this happen before. I immediately felt a whole lot more space in my brain. A gigantic burden had been lifted, a new exhilarating lightness had replaced it. I believe that when we concentrate on opening the heart and feeling the divine current of unconditional love that it will continue to pour through us and liberate those parts of the mind that are still running the negative programs.

Praying is the asking for our intents to be heard and acted upon by Prime Source (our Creator). Meditation is the receiving of the answer we have prayed for. My prayer was heard this night.

The type of energy work I do is the EMF Balancing Technique. Since I have received the first four sessions about a year and a half ago, my process of cycling the negative beliefs has accelerated. Polarities, that I had been hanging onto, since early childhood, have come up and cycled through my being, across different time lines. Wha la, an interdimensional healing!!!

The first session connects up the head and the heart. This new dynamic is a permanent activation that keeps on working within all four levels of my being: the spiritual, physical, mental, & emotional.

This inner wisdom is always at play. It manifested the other night in my meditation to free me of this really nasty three pronged negative belief system that had embedded itself around my brain, causing the deep feeling of fear, the fear of failure. It's times like these I can indulge in a hearty laugh over the insidious nature of these deep-seated beliefs and how ludicrous they really are. It's just that if I can't consciously feel them and trace them to a belief I don't have a chance to cycle them.

The game has changed brothers and sisters. We've been empowered with this new energy dynamic that supports our own inner knowing. Discernment is the key word right now. Who do the lies benefit? Why is there so much corruption? Why is such a power struggle going on right now? Why is there a war being waged over oil?

Instead of feeling bitter and judging these events, I'm learning to accept it and shine my own inner light to make the reality I desire. We can all do this. When shine our own individual lights we take away the power of the darkness that is fed by fear, lack, and violence. It is the bedrock of the old energy dynamics.

The new energy dynamic, of being the truth of our own inner being, is just waiting there to be implemented by anyone who wants to use wisdom and love to access the universal energy source, (the Cosmic Lattice).

The permanent activation of your energy anatomy with the EMF Balancing Technique, corrects the flow of light & enables you to release blocks. Create your desired state of healing within the physical, mental, emotional, & spiritual bodies of your being.

Seafood the healthy alternative

Most red and white meats are very fatty and are not a healthy way to eat. Seafood on the other hand offers you a great tasting alternative. When cooked correctly you couldn't ask for a better tasting meal.

Seafood can be purchased either fresh or frozen. By freezing the seafood fresh it can be shipped all over the world so everyone can have the opportunity to enjoy fresh seafood that they may not otherwise be able to enjoy.

Seafood that has not been kept at or below 39 degrees may not be safe to eat, so if you're not sure if it's good or not, throw it away. It is not worth the risk of getting sick. When choosing to purchase fresh seafood be sure and check it out thoroughly to make sure it is fresh. One thing to look for is to make sure the eyes are not bulging, but clear instead. Don't accept fish where the gills are pink, they should always be red. A very important fact to remember is that even though it is seafood, it should not have a fishy smell to it. If you notice any of these things wrong, do not purchase the seafood.

The best and safest way to cook frozen seafood is while it is still frozen. You can cook it by baking the seafood in an oven, or cooking it in a frying pan. The most popular way to cook seafood is wrapped in foil, and placed on a barbeque grill. This seems to give you the best flavor possible. You can thaw out the seafood before cooking it, but if you do this, make sure you cook it as quick as you can. If you do not cook all seafood that has been thawed, make sure you throw away any that is left. Seafood can never be refrozen.

Because eating seafood can actually treat some illness and prevent certain diseases, it can be considered a very healthily diet. Some fish contain the omega-3 oils which help stop certain disease, and help in the aid of curing some illness. Most all seafood is high in protein and low in fat, with the exception of a few, such as the eel.

Seafood has been linked in helping the prevention of Alzheimer's disease, and to aid in the prevention of breast cancer. Women in countries that eat more seafood than red meat have a lower tendency of contracting breast cancer. Using fish oil has also been linked to preventing some diseases.

There are a lot of healthy benefits from eating a seafood diet. Scallops and mussels add zinc and iron to your body. Seafood also contains iodine, which is good for your thyroids. Having a seafood diet is just a smart and healthy thing to do.

Hair Loss: Know The Cause Know The Cure

Don't you envy those young men in the streets with full heads of hair? Hair has always been considered a man's crowning glory, while hair loss has been regarded as signs of ageing and unattractiveness.

So, losing hair has always been a problem for many men.

Well, it no longer has to be a problem! If you know your hair problem, you can find out the cure easily. In this article, I hope to present to you the major causes of hair loss, and the things that you should do if you have such a problem.

Of course, you may also want to take a look at my book:
http://www.myhealthweekly.com/presents/hairloss/

Cause 1: Genetic Balding
This is seen in men and women alike, and this constitutes the majority of cases of hair loss. The most commonly used cure is treatment with 2% topical minoxidil. However, only around 30% of users show noticeable improvement, and stopping the use of the drug might result in loss of the newly grown hair. When 0.05% retinoic acid solution is added however, a higher percentage of users show moticeable improvement. Consult your doctor about using these drugs.

Cause 2: Fungal Infection
Fungal infection often causes patchy hair loss, and red scalp, scaling (dandruff) and pus is often seen. This type of infection can be easily treated with a few months' course of anti-fungal agents, used simultaneously with anti-fungal shampoo.

Cause 3: Major illness/surgery
After you have undergone a major illness or surgery, you might experience this type of hair loss. This type of hair loss can also follow stress or childbirth. However, such hair loss is temporary, and hair will regrow in a matter of months.

Cause 4: Drugs
There are various drugs that can cause hair loss, such as vitamin A, chemotherapy, blood thinners, and thyroid medication. However, hair will also regrow soon after the discontinuation of the drug. Alternative medication can be prescribed by the doctor if this is the cause of hair loss.

In conclusion, hair loss, though distressful, is not life threatening. Medication provided by the doctor can solve most of the problems, and in severe cases, a local injection onto the scalp will cause hair to grow back.

Are asbestos fibers visible to the eye ?

If you are in the construction business or employed by an industry that uses products containing asbestos, you may wonder Are asbestos fibers visible to the eye? Generally asbestos fibers are too small to be seen by the naked eye. Asbestos becomes dangerous when it has broken down into small fibers and is inhaled. It is nearly impossible to detect the presence of asbestos without taking the material to a lab for testing. A lab technician will put the material under a microscope to search for asbestos fibers. Asbestos does not cause an immediate reaction. It will not cause you to cough, sneeze, or your eyes to water. You cannot see, smell, or taste asbestos. If you skin becomes contaminated with asbestos it will not burn or itch.

Asbestos related diseases have a very long latency period. This is the time frame from when you are first exposed to asbestos until you become ill. Most persons do not become ill for at least ten years after exposure and some not until over forty years later. Asbestosis, lung cancer, and mesothelioma are all asbestos related diseases. Asbestosis occurs when asbestos fibers enter the lungs. The body will naturally produce an acid to combat the fibers. However, this acid can cause scarring in the tissue of the lungs and in advanced stages breathing becomes more difficult and painful. Asbestosis was first documented in shipyard workers. Asbestos can also cause lung cancer. If a person smokes and is exposed to asbestos, they have a much greater chance of developing lung cancer. Mesothelioma is a type of cancer that has only been linked to asbestos exposure. It is a cancer of the cells that line the peritoneum (area surrounding the abdominal organs) and the pleura (area outside of the lungs and inside of the ribs).

There is a lot of debate and controversy surrounding which types of asbestos is harmful. Some types of asbestos are thought to be more dangerous than others but all types of asbestos exposure should be avoided. Actinolite, amosite, anthophyllite, crocidolite, chrysotile (white asbestos), and tremolite are all types of asbestos. Chrysotile is the type of asbestos most commonly used in manufacturing products.

Asbestos fibers are not visible to the eye. If you feel you may have been exposed to asbestos, the most common method for testing is a chest x-ray. The x-ray will not show the asbestos fibers but it can spot early signs of lung disease. There is no known cure for asbestos related diseases.

How to Set Goals Like a Bill Gates

Hope you're doing AWESOME and January is starting off GREAT for you!

I just got back from a seminar I spoke at in Texas this weekend and

I want to share with you a 'theme' I heard from 3 coaching clients I was able to get together with there.

What was so interesting to me is that ALL 3 of them said the EXACT same thing to me.

Let me make this point and then, right after, show you a powerful and SIMPLE success principle.

so tough.

I was scattered.

I was a procrastinator.

I tried to generate $10,0.00 a month before I ever ma.de $5,000.

I tried to generate $1,00.0,000 before I ever ear.ned $100,0.00.

I was trying to reach my goals, but never to pay my dues.

I had a ton of ideas, but no results.

I was going backwards faster than the famous track athlete Carl Lewis runs. It wasn't pretty.

But then things started to change.

Just like they have for these 3 coaching clients I met with at the seminar this weekend in Texas.

We've helped these 3 individuals change their lives and income - and let me share with you this one point we've held them ACCOUNTABLE on.

This ONE point I used to transform my finances and I STILL use it today.

Here's the 'principle':

Ready?

***MAKE your GOALS smaller.

What Mike?

Yes, you can have a big vision, but make your goals smaller.

Can you explain Mike?

Yes.

When I was mak.ing $5,000 a month, my goal next month was $6,500.

When I was ma.king $12,0.00, my next month's goal was $14,0.00.

And on and on.

The seminar I was at had about 500 people. I asked them: how many people set big goals and still weren't where they wanted to be?> 95% of the room raised their hands.

These 3 coaching clients I met with at the seminar all have MOMENTUM.

That's what happens when you have PROGRESS and you reach your goals. take a deep breath and take ONE step at a time.

Success is counterintuitive.

Sometimes to go faster, you need to go slower.

I bet if you make your goals 50% smaller, you'll have 100% more results. (we talk about this point in 'Greatness University' this month)

This is your year. Try this for 60 days and watch what happens.

Here are the results for these 3 coaching clients.

Two have doubled their inco.me.

One's income is up 25%.

All three have seen their confidence and happiness skyrocket.

2005 is your year to unleash YOUR greatness!

Talk to you soon.

Are You Vulnerable?

Copyright Jan Tincher - All Rights reserved

http://www.tameyourbrain.com

If you've been reading *Tame Your Brain!* for a while now, you know how powerful words are, and the impact they have on your self-esteem.

Have you ever been to a party and someone came up to you and said, *My, you look fat.* Or *My, you look skinny.* Or *My, you look stupid.* You get the idea. If you are already having problems with whatever issue they've mentioned, those words will have a serious impact on you. Even if the person came right back and said, *I was only kidding. I didn't mean it.* His or her apology won't be what you'll remember, the apology won't be the words you run back and forth in your mind. Just like that, your shoulders start slumping, you lose your zest, and you want to go home. And you are seriously ready to make someone else's life a living hell when you get there.

Why? Because someone said something that hurt your feelings? You know the pity party you are about to embark on? NO ONE has any fun there. Why put yourself through that?

You see, if someone hadn't tripped your trigger, you would have had a great time. *They* didn't hurt you. They only tripped a trigger that you have kept near the surface. You LET them hurt you simply by being vulnerable in that area, by keeping your vulnerable outlook close by so that they COULD hurt you.

Can you imagine what your response would be if you weren't vulnerable? If they said *My, you look fat*, but in actuality you are thin? You'd laugh it off, wouldn't you?

Why not take charge of your life? Why not take it upon yourself to be prepared for something like this? Be prepared to laugh it off. Because it's going to happen as long as you have excess weight, a unusual hair style, pimples, glasses, or anything else that people make fun of.

*** TIP *** Did you notice that I didn't say *as long as you have YOUR excess weight, unusual hair, etc.?* Because if you keep claiming it, you'll keep having it. The more you say *I'm fat*, or

whatever, when you look in the mirror, the more you will keep the problem. The more you say derogatory words when describing yourself, silently or out loud, the more you impress those ideas into your subconscious, the more you will bring them into your life. The more you unconsciously invite people to make fun of you.

Here's how to fix that.

The minute someone has hurt your feelings, or touched a vulnerable area, start imagining them in plaid pajamas. Their pajamas aren't just any pajamas, though. These pajamas have a video playing in one of the big squares of the plaid on their chest. The video has good things happening. It has your mom, your dad, your brother or sister or grandma or grandpa, or someone you respect telling you all good things that you've accomplished in your life. They're patting your back and you are feeling terrific. You are paying attention to the video -- and as you are paying attention to it, your shoulders are going back, your back is straight, you have a smile on your face -- until the person has left, knowing he or she can't get a rise out of you. You have just gone up a notch on their respect barometer, and next time you'll be able to talk with them closer to equals instead of you with *sucker* tattooed on your forehead. Sucker is just another word for vulnerable. Don't

sweat it. You know how to take care of it.

Now, I realize there are some who don't have any good memories to use in their video. This is where the Lemon article will come in handy. *What If Life Doesn't Hand You A Lemon? Imagine It Anyway!* http://www.tameyourbrain.com/lemon.htm

Thanks for reading.

Getting A College Degree After The Military

The men and women who serve in America's armed forces, National Guard, and reserve forces have paid a great service to our country. Some of them will never come back from foreign wars and others will return shattered and maimed both physically and emotionally. They deserve our thanks and our praise and they also deserve a second chance at getting a college degree.

The benefits of a college degree for current and future employment are clearly evident. So too are the economic benefits and increased earning power of having a college education. That's why America owes military veterans the assistance to make their second chance a successful one.

Most branches of the Armed Forces have specific funding and scholarships dedicated to their men and women on active duty and in reserves. The Army plan for examples provides for assistance up to $75,000 for an active duty soldier who wants to get a higher education.

Some people in the military plan their way to a college degree long before they leave the service but many others enroll right after high school and don't think about college until after they return from their tour of duty. These people need a whole lot more assistance just to get their life back on track and then they start looking for their options, sometimes even years later.
The good news is that there are now educational supports available to veterans from a variety of sources including the Veterans Administration, the Department of Defense and a wide range of academic and business organizations. The Army for example has developed partnerships with over 1,600 colleges and universities across the country to assist both active duty soldiers and veterans explore their higher education options.

To create an educational plan for yourself as a military veteran you simply need to find out as much information as you can about veteran and military financial aid to assist your college education and once you have access to the money, then develop a plan to make it happen.

Your plan should outline your goals for your college education including what you would like to study and where you would like to learn. Your VA counselor would be pleased to help you put that together. Next you will need to select a program that suits your needs at an institution of your choice. Your final step is easy. Go to school, work hard, and study harder.

Your life as college graduate awaits you. As a military veteran you deserve it.

How to Overcome the Overwhelm of the Holiday Season (And Red

The Holiday Season can be a wonderful time of year, filled with lovely decorations, gift exchanges, visits with friends and family and delicious meals. But for many of us, the Holiday Season can also be quite overwhelming with all the added activities such as decorating our homes, selecting, buying, wrapping and exchanging gifts and hosting friends and family while we prepare multi-course elaborate meals! The question is, What can we do to Overcome Overwhelm during the Holidays?

1. Simplify Your Life

Holidays that are full of complexity are neither fun nor comfortable. Complexity can easily contribute to feeling overwhelmed. We can be invited to numerous events and want to host others ourselves. These activities can be very wonderful experiences, but there can also be too many to prepare for and attend in a short time. You may also have to consider selecting, wrapping and delivering gifts, decorating the house, and, potentially, traveling to visit friends and family across the country. Keeping the holidays simple with a manageable number of events to attend and/or host, can greatly contribute to Overcoming Overwhelm during the Holidays.

2. Practice Extreme Self-Care

In our fast paced world, often our physical bodies become the last priority. We drag our bodies around nonstop and we can be indifferent to signs of exhaustion. When we practice extreme self-care, our mind, body and spirit are much more likely to assist us in our other efforts by providing strong support including energy, enthusiasm and presence. With extreme self-care our energy is up, our confidence is high and we feel much more positive. Some examples of self-care activities include sufficient sleep, quiet time, exercise, healthy food, and joyful recreation. Often during the holidays, some of our self-care activities are put on hold with all the hustle and bustle of the season. Taking proper care of ourselves during the Holiday Season can contribute greatly to Overcoming Overwhelm during the Holidays.

3. Celebrate the Unique You

Sometimes there are should or must dos on our to-do list that we really don't enjoy doing or don't leverage our best skills. We can end up delaying or not completing these activities. Or if we take these items on, they can contribute to frustration or overwhelm. Instead, we can consider whether there is someone else who can take care of the item for us or determine if the activity really needs to be done now.

There are many events and activities that we can participate in during the holidays on top of regular life activities. If we don't know what we really want during the Holiday Season, then it will be much harder to say no to invitations that do not align with our desires. A great place to start is to clearly define our preferences in writing. By sharing our vision of the ideal Holiday Season with our life partner, asking him or her what their desired Holiday Season looks like and integrating these two collaboratively, you have a plan the two of you can action and support together for the Holiday Season. Celebrating the Unique You, by respecting and celebrating your desired Holiday Season, can greatly contribute to Overcoming Overwhelm and experiencing more power, serenity and joy during the Holiday Season.

Designing A Life We Each Get The Chance

As we pass through the Seven Gateways to Enchantment again and again and become a true Enchanted Self, we see that life is all about living and then telling and retelling the stories of our lives to get the most positive juice from our stories.

This often means taking pain and misfortune and turning it into meaning and even eventually a metamorphosis of pleasure. One example of designing a fulfilling life comes to mind. This is the story of a part of our French cousin's life. A retired doctor living outside of Paris , Jean Manuel, has often told us the story of his years living hidden in a farmhouse in a French Province . When he was five, his parents were warned that they had to leave Paris . He vividly remembers how terribly upset his parents were. Somehow they found a farmer and his wife who agreed to take in as many of the family members as could get there. His family and some cousins lived several years on this farm.

Others chose not to leave Paris and were never heard of again.

Jean Manuel told us about how his family went back after the war to look for their missing relatives, only to find possessions and an uneaten birthday cake celebrating the nephew's first birthday still on the table, at one of their cousin's homes. The family, however, was gone forever. He remembers his parent's despair, yet also how life resumed for all of them.

He also shared with us how his father was once picked up by the French Police and loaded onto a train. Fortunately the train was moving slowly enough that his father could jump and escape, living for a while in the woods until he could return to his little family.

One might at first wonder--how could a person come to terms with so much loss and seeing his family go through so much pain? I don't know Jean Manuel terribly well but I have clearly seen a friendly, joyful person every time we've been together. I have a hunch of several ways he has processed this story of his life and the life of his family.

I believe that one of the major ways that he has processed his own life and turned it into a meaningful, joyful experience is by giving back. The farmer and his wife who took them in didn't have any children of their own. Jean Manuel and everyone else that was hidden by them, never forgot them. They visited this couple every summer. To this very day, although the husband is gone, and the wife lives in a nursing home, Jean Manuel or his wife, or sometimes his daughter will take responsibility to visit and be with this woman. They never forgot and they've always been good to the people that were good to them.

Perhaps the other major way that I know that this man had made his life story into a meaningful life adventure is the way I feel when I am with him. He is a pleasant, reassuring person who makes me feel comfortable, safe, and as if there is a good time lurking around every corner. I think he is a lovely example of someone living an enchanted life... a life that has had to be reinterpreted, I'm sure, more than once... a life that is not a life of fame but of private meaning and consistency.

Exercise: Positive Personal Recognition

The following activity is great to help you better recognize how special you really are. Keep a piece of paper or a small notebook handy with which to make a self-pride list. For one week, write down at least one item a day that you have done well.

For example, on your list you might put, I was polite and kind to several people in the check out line in the supermarket, even though I was very tired. Or you might write, I used my head, rather than my fists, or oday I was able to really share with my son my concerns over his getting another traffic ticket, rather than showing intense anger.

Or you might write something as simple as, I took care of my body today. I ate reasonable foods and went for a 20 minute walk.

At the end of the week, find a spare moment to read over your list a few times. After you have done that, give yourself a mental hug or visualize shaking hands with yourself or giving yourself a high five sign, or even placing a gold star on your forehead. This is a good way to begin giving yourself some recognition and possibly long overdue acknowledgment of all your many successes.

What you will realize as you keep your list is that you are certainly worth acknowledging in positive ways! You may also be surprised to see that you have done many acts of kindness, good deeds and often taken positive rather than negative action! Wow, you are AN ENCHANTED SELF!

Are you making a sacrifice?

When I was a university student, an ice cream-loving friend of mine gave up ice cream for Lent. It became a joke among all of us as we watched him suffer through keeping his promise, and almost a party when we brought him three gallons of butter pecan just after midnight Easter morning! We often talk about Lent as a time of sacrifice. Of the sacrifice Christ made for us. And the sacrifices we should make.

The idea of sacrifice isn't a pretty oneit's a painful one! But it implies temporary pain for future gain. In our study of creating greater abundance, what do we have to sacrifice? We have to give up our old ways of thinking. That's not easy, even if those old ways are hurting us. Old habits are comfortable. They're familiar. We carry out the habit, we know what's
going to happen. And it may not even be pleasant, but it's predictable. What happens if we break the habit? That's the problemwe don't know what will happen, do we?

In our case, we're sacrificing the way we think about:

Money. If we think that money is the root of all evil, how well are we going to attract it? If we think that rich people are somehow bad, are likely is it that we'll become one? Sure, there are rich people with bad attitudes. There are those who got there on the backs of others. There are those who take their
financial success as a sign of superiority. But we know it doesn't have to be that way.

Life. Why are we here? If we think we're here to suffer, it's
reasonable to believe that the Universe will be kind enough to comply. I'm not sure who first wrote this poem, but I'm taking it from Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich:

I bargained with life for a penny
And Life would pay no more,
However I begged at evening
When I counted my scanty store.

For Life is a just employer,
He gives you what you ask,
But once you have set the wages,
Why, you must bear the task.

I worked for a menial's hire,
Only to learn, dismayed,
That any wage I had asked of Life,
Life would have willingly paid.

Do you see life as being willing to pay a penny's worth of value? Or more? The Universe won't second-guess you. If
you only ask for a penny, it will assume you know what you want, and be accommodating enough to give it to you.

Ourselves. This might be the hardest of all. Do we see ourselves as average? Stuck? Not as smart, or not good
enough? Then we're not. But even our self-limiting beliefs are comfortable. They become part of our identity. But these beliefs have gotten us into whatever position we're in. If we
want to change that position, we've got to change the thinking. If I want new furniture in my living room, I need to get rid of the old furniture to make room, no matter how comfortable I've gotten with it. If I want new thoughts in my head, I need to sacrifice the old ones.

So sacrifice isn't such an awful thing. Its short-term pain makes room for long-term growth. And as long as we know where we're growing to, it's a process to welcome.

Bath Time For Your Alzheimer's Patient

Caring for an Alzheimer's patient is one of the most difficult things you can do. It involves a lot of energy, time and patience. It can be very frustrating. People with Alzheimer's may refuse help from caregivers. This is a sign that they are actually trying to communicate with you. Refusal to accept care is a sign that something is missing or not right. It's up to the caregiver to assess the situation.

If your loved one refuses to take her bath or shower, this might be a clue that something is bothering her. It may be embarrassment. Remember that your loved one used to do all these things alone before she had Alzheimer's and now she has to depend on another person. It is very frustrating. You may have to limit bath time. Approach the situation one step at a time in a non-threatening manner. While you help your loved one undress, use a smooth calming voice. As you bathe her, you can talk about old memories you used to share. It will make the process more enjoyable and pleasant for both of you.

If this does not work and your loved one still resists your help, then you might need try again later. When people with Alzheimer's do not like to bathe, it often stems from fear. Make sure the lighting in the bathroom is adequate for your loved one to see. If she cannot see well, her fear will increase. Let the shower or bath run for a while to warm up the room. It will make it more comfortable. No one likes to undress in a cold room. If your loved one is using a shower, you might want to put a chair in it so she can sit down. You can purchase one of those at a medical supply store or drug store. Use a hand held shower head. This will take the water up to her level and will be less threatening.

Music is a good way to help as well. It can be good therapy. Studies have shown that some Alzheimer's patients react very well to music. They may feel less stress. Music can decrease emotions of agitation or aggressive behavior. You can play soft music; add some fragrance in the bathroom. It will make it more inviting. You can try to use the same rituals your loved one used before when taking a bath or a shower. Routine is extremely important for persons with Alzheimer's.

If you feel there is still tension and resistance, you can always choose another option. You can hire some professional help just for the bathing time. If you decide to get someone to help you, make sure that person has experience with Alzheimer's disease and knows how to handle patients with dementia. You can hire someone on your own or go through an agency. They have qualified people and will be able to assist you in this situation. Sometimes, the individual with dementia will respond better to a third party rather than a family member. Put yourself in her shoes, it can be really embarrassing having someone from your family bathe you. A disinterested, but gentle, third party may help greatly.

The main thing is to handle bath time in a loving manner. Your loved one will appreciate it and it will lower her stress level, as well as yours.

Are you lacking SelfDiscipline? Part 1

A man does not live until he begins to discipline himself;
he merely exists. Like an animal he gratifies his desires
and pursues his inclinations just where they may lead him.
He is happy as a beast is happy, because he is not conscious
of what he is depriving himself; he suffers as the beast
suffers, because he does not know the way out of suffering.
He does not intelligently reflect upon life, and lives in a
series of sensations, longings, and confused memories which
are unrelated to any central idea or principle. A man whose
inner life is so ungoverned and chaotic must necessarily
manifest this confusion in the visible conditions of his
outer life in the world; and though for a time, running with
the stream of his desires, he may draw to himself a more or
less large share of the outer necessities and comforts of
life, he never achieves any real success nor accomplishes
any real good, and sooner or later wordly failure and
disaster are inevitable, as the direct result of the inward
failure to properly adjust and regulate those mental forces
which make the outer life.

Before a man accomplish anything of an enduring nature in
the world he must first of all acquire some measure of
success in the management of his own mind. This is as
mathematical a truism as that two and two are four, for,
out of the heart are the issues of life. If a man cannot
govern the forces within himself, he cannot hold a firm
hand upon the outer activities which form his visible life.
On the other hand, as a man succeeds, in governing himself
he rises to higher and higher levels of power and usefulness
and success in the world. The only difference between the
life of the beast and that of the undisciplined man is that
the man has a wider variety of desires, and experiences a
greater intensity of suffering. It may be said of such a man
that he is dead, being truly dead to self-control, chastity,
fortitude, and all the nobler qualities which constitute
life. In the consciousness of such a man the crucified Christ
ies entombed, awaiting that resurrection which shall revivify
the mortal sufferer, and wake him up to a knowledge of tha
realities of his existence.

With the practice of self-discipline a man begins to live,
for he then commences to rise above the inward confusion
and to adjust his conduct to a steadfast centre within
himself. He ceases to follow where inclination leads him,
reins in the steed of his desires, and lives in accordance
with the dictates of reason and wisdom. Hitherto his life
has been without purpose or meaning, but now he begins to
consciously mould his own destiny; he is clothed and in
his right mind.

In the process of self-discipline there are three stages
namely;

1.Control

2.Purification

3.Relinquishment

A man begins to discipline himself by controlling those
passions which have hitherto controlled him; he resists
temptation and guards himself against all those tendencies
to selfish gratifications which are so easy and natural,
and which have formerly dominated him. He brings his
appetite into subjection, and begins to eat as a reasonable
and responsible being, practising moderation and
thoughtfulness in the selection of his food, with the
object of making his body a pure instrument through which
he may live and act as becomes a man, and no longer
degarding that body by pandering to gustatory pleasure. He
puts a check upon his tongue, his temper, and, in fact, his
every animal desire and tendency, and this he does by
referring all his acts to a fixed centre within himself.
It is a process of living from within outward, instead of,
as formerly, from without inward. He conceives of an ideal,
and, enshrining that ideal in the sacred recesses of his
heart, he regulates his conduct in accordance with its
exaction and demands.

There is a philosophical hypothesis that at the heart of
every atom and every aggregation of atoms in the universe
there is a motionless center which is the sustaining source
of all the universal activities. Be this as it may, there
is certainly in the heart of every man and woman a selfless
centre without which the outer man could not be, and the
ignoring of which leads to suffering and confusion. This
selfless center which takes the form, in the mind, of an
ideal of unselfishness and spotless purity, the attainment
of which is desirable, is man's eternal refuge from the
storms of passion and all the conflicting elements of his
lower nature. It is the Rock of Ages, the Christ within,
the divine and immortal in all men.

End of part 1. Part 2 coming soon...

Aren't all Multi Vitamins Basically the Same?

Multi vitamins can provide a convenient way to take a
variety of supplemental nutrients from a single product to
prevent vitamin or mineral deficiencies, as well as to
achieve higher intakes of beneficial nutrients.

In the current state of the vitamin and nutritional
supplement industry it can be difficult to decide which
supplements will provide real health protection and
improvement benefits and which are simply me too products
designed primarily to ride the wave of public interest in
preventative health.

To understand the need to be informed about vitamin and
nutritional supplements, you must understand the regulatory
environment that currently exists in the vitamin supplement
industry in the United States.

Do Vitamin Companies Regulate Themselves?

In October of 1994, President Clinton signed into law the
Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA).

The DSHEA was written to help empower Americans to make
choices about their own preventative health care strategies.

Under the DSHEA it was decided that nutritional supplements
would continue to be regulated as a food product rather than
the more restrictive regulations that drugs fall under.

While this made vitamin and nutritional supplements widely
available it also allowed nutritional supplement
manufacturers to practically regulate themselves, since
there was no agreed upon standard of good manufacturing
practice (GMP) and no government pressure to be true to the
label on their products.

It was't until March of 2003, nine years after the DSHEA
became law, that the FDA proposed new regulations to require
current good manufacturing practices (CGMPs) in the
manufacturing, packaging, and holding of nutritional
supplements.

According to the FDA, this is what prompted the new
regulation proposal:

In recent years, analyses of dietary supplements by a
private sector laboratory suggest that a substantial number
of dietary supplement products analyzed may not contain the
amounts of dietary ingredients that would be expected to be
found based on their product labels. For example...

Five of 18 soy and/or red clover-containing products were
found to contain only 50 percent to 80 percent of the
declared amounts of isoflavones.

Of 25 probiotic products tested, 8 contained less than 1
percent of the claimed number of live bacteria or the number
of bacteria that would be expected to be found in such a
product.

The proposed rule will, for the first time, establish
standards to ensure that vitamin supplement ingredients are
not adulterated with contaminants or impurities, and are
labeled to accurately to reflect the active ingredients and
other ingredients in the product.

The proposed new regulations will be phased in over the next
three years so as not to disrupt the production of
nutritional supplements.

While the DSHEA has helped ensure that dietary supplements
remain easily accessible without excessive regulation,
(doctors prescriptions, etc.), it also has created a wide
open atmosphere for manufacturers who aren't yet in
compliance with good manufacturing practices (at this time,
GMP compliance is voluntary).

It's very easy for a supplement company to jump on the
bandwagonof the latest fad and put together a product with
little or no research and poor quality (and cheap!)
ingredients, and then market it with over-blown,
unsubstantiated claims and pure hype.

Some of the most common products that this formula is used
for are weight loss, HGH (human growth hormone) and multi
vitamins.

Supplement users are in the position of having to trust
vitamin supplement manufacturers to regulate themselves.
Although the dietary supplement industry has an excellent
track record of safety, it's been verified by the independent
product testing of consumerlab.com that some supplements do
not contain what is stated on their label and are sometimes
contaminated.

While some vitamin supplement manufacturers are working hard
to meet the new FDA guidelines, not all are. At this time,
you have to do your own research and take extra precautions
to find high quality nutritional supplements.

Tips for Choosing Nutritional Supplements

Vitamins, minerals and other nutrients work best when
they're combined in a way that mimics nature as closely as
possible. Look for nutritional supplements that have
nutrients combined to make use of the natural synergy
between them.

Companies willing to give a full disclosure and description
of their ingredients have usually put more effort and
research into their product. For example, instead of just
saying Calcium the label should be more detailed like this:
Calcium (from 2430 mg Citrate, Malate, Ester-C). This
description indicates that higher quality ingredients and
more up-to-date research was used for the supplement.

Verify that the supplement was produced at a pharmaceutical
GMP (good manufacturing practices) facility. Since
compliance to GMP standards is voluntary it's important to
do your own research to verify that macro-biological testing
is done at every stage of production.

(This issue shouldn't be taken lightly - as mentioned above,
studies by Consumerlab.com have shown that some supplements
don't have the true amount of ingredients as stated on the
label, or may harbor toxic contaminants.)

Pharmaceutical grade supplements (sometimes called
nutriceuticals) are made for professional use in the health
care field by natural health care providers and consumers
who want the best.

In the past decade pharmaceutical grade supplements have
become more availableto the general public and this type of
nutritional supplement will provide the health benefits that
you're looking for, often for a very reasonable price.

Why Democrats Lose Elections: They aren't dumb. They

Give the GOP credit. Unlike the Democrats whose collective IQ seems to register somewhere between a '58 Buick and box of rocks the Republicans are astutely aware of their political surroundings. That's why they win and Democrats don't.

In reality, the Democrats aren't dumb.

Anyone who was privileged to bask in the presence of former Gov. Joe Kernan know him as a passionate leader who truly cared for Hoosiers. The sharp mind of former Democratic Party State Chair Kip Tew was an asset to the party. And former Lt. Kathy Gov. Davis was bright, witty, and personable. In short, they were a class act.

No, the Democrats aren't dumb. They're asleep.

The GOP, by contrast, paid close attention to the elections in 2003 when Libertarian Greg Dixon took nearly 15 percent of the vote in his bid for Indianapolis City Council. That put a sizeable ding in the confidence of his Republican challenger. More bothersome was the fact that Libertarians proved they could plan and execute an effective campaign. The GOP took note. The Democrats snoozed.

That same year the Libertarians' candidate for mayor in Carmel snatched nearly 25 percent of the vote from the Republican incumbent. That was no small task, considering Hamilton County is a bastion of Republicanism. In nearby Noblesville, the GOP saw over 40 percent of its vote go to Libertarians in two of their City Council races. In Wayne County, Susan Bell flat out squashed her Republican opponent and became the Hoosier state's first Libertarian judge. All told, twelve Libertarians are holding office across the state.

To the ears of Republicans, the above has the ring of an alarm clock. To the Democrats it's a lullaby.

Simply said, the GOP gets it. Indiana has three political parties. They are vulnerable. In 2004 they responded accordingly and won.

The Democrats don't get it. One would think the party of Birch Bayh would have the good sense to exploit the Republicans' soft spot. Exploit it? They don't even seem to know it exists.

Consider, for example, the GOP's gubernatorial primary in May of 2004. Eric Miller, a pro-life, sun-tanned poster child for the religious right, challenged the man who would ultimately become the next governor. The Republican Party was divided. To thinking folks, that translated into vulnerability. To the Democrats who are not thinking folks it meant nothing.

While Democrats had no chance of snatching Miller's followers, they did have a wide-open opportunity to send them to the Libertarian. It would have taken only 8 percent of Miller's supporters to tilt the election in favor of Democrat Joe Kernan. But the Democrats did nothing. Snore.

The Republicans, meanwhile, did plenty.

For starters, a here-to-fore unknown PAC dumped a ton of cold cash into a direct mail campaign. The target was Joe Kernan. The benefactor was the Libertarian challenger. The result? Kernan lost votes. Those were votes the Republicans would never have captured. Nice play.

What's more, the Republicans kept close tabs on their Libertarian opponent. Stuffing his Web site with e-mail addresses, the GOP received the Libertarian's weekly updates. Any appeal to Miller supporters was noted and challenged. The risk of losing Miller votes was a chance they would not take. Another nice play.

The Democrats, meanwhile, were sound asleep. One Miller supporter went so far as to personally appeal to the Democrats for support. A win by Daniels, he knew, would keep Miller from running in the next election. The election returns proved the Republicans right and the Democrats to be snoozing.

Another case in point was the defeat of Democratic Congressman Baron Hill by Republican Mike Sodrel. The margin of victory was less than 2,000 votes. The Libertarian challenged garnered 4,698 votes. Had the Democrats offered the Libertarian candidate even a modest amount of support, the election would have likely tilted toward the Democrat.

The groggy-eyed Democrats, meanwhile, are outside looking in, clueless as to what happened. But who knows? Maybe between now and 2006 they'll wake up.

Achieve Your Desires By Scoring Goals

Do you have a desire? Silly question I know because everybody has desires, just not the same ones. Of course there are many that most of us share like those old clichs of health, wealth, and happiness. But there are some that are exclusive to a certain group of people. For example; a musician may desire to play at the Albert Hall but have no interest in constructing his own website. But enough rambling, it's time I got to the point.

Ask any successful person how they achieved their success and the answer will invariably be along the lines of first identifying the desire, and then achieving that desire by breaking it down into a sequence of smaller steps to be accomplished along the way. Only when these smaller steps have been identified and mapped out can the journey of achievement truly begin.

Sometimes the desire can seem monumental, perhaps even appearing unattainable. But just as conquering the highest peaks, or running a marathon begins with the first step and is followed by the second step, so too does the achievement of desire. If you can visualize the outcome, you can plan a strategy to achieve it. The strategy may have to be adapted along the way, but without it you achieve little.

The secret of achieving your desires then is to identify the steps you need to take - these are your goals and you should write them down. Sort them into long term goals and short term goals, like tasks you can achieve today, within the next week, this month, this year, and so on. Then work on what you can do now to accomplish one of these goals. When it is done you can tick it off the list and move on. Take time to congratulate yourself too because you just scored a goal!

Aromas to Heal a Broken Heart

Too often people write off break-ups as just another page to turn in the book of life. There is some truth in that, but break-ups should be taken a bit more seriously. After all, this is the end of a relationship. And this loss can be as painful as losing a loved one in death. To heal it takes time, self-care, and conscious processing of your emotions. It is vital that you allow this healing process to occur, and take advantage of the situation to treat yourself with gentleness and nurturing.

Here are some other things to keep in mind during this transformative time:

Avoid any big decisions.

Go into the pain and the feelings. There is no way out but
to get through it...and you will!

Take long aromatherapy baths with appropriate holistic
blends. See recipes below.

Cry when you need to. Don't let others tell you to just
get over it.

Be VERY selfish.

Surround yourself with positive and happy people.

Dare to ask for a lot of hugs.

Get a dog or cat, or cuddle with the ones you have.

Write really awful, bitchy, letters to your ex. Write
everything you would love to say. Burn them in the sink.
Run the water to make it go away.

Love yourself. Look in the mirror as often as you can and
say wonderful things about yourself aloud.

Write your way through the feelings.

Connect with other people who understand and can relate:
friends, counselors, message boards on websites, etc.

Have a healthy lifestyle: eat well, exercise (at least get
some fresh air on the beach, at the park, etc.).

Nourish your soul with beauty: watch movies, read poetry,
go to museums.

Meditate.

Stay alone and appreciate the tranquility of your
aloneness.

There's no rule for how long the pain of a heartbreak will last. It may take weeks, months or even years. But using the following special aromatherapy blend and ritual will soothe your heart, nurture your wounded soul, and envelop you in comfort. I recommend following this bath ritual every night until you feel the pain has faded.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Your Daily Bath Ritual to Ease Your Broken Heart
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Prepare your aromatherapy blend by adding the following essential oils to a 10-oz bottle and filling with organic vegetable oil:

4 drops Rose Essential Oil
15 drops Sandalwood Oil
9 drops Lavender Oil

---------------------
Order what you need to create the blend yourself:
===> http://www.aromalchemy.com/aromatherapy/ouroils.html
OR
Order it ready-to-use!
===> http://www.aromalchemy.com/aromatherapy/featured.html
---------------------

Run some warm water for your bath and add 10 drops of your aromatic blend. Light some candles and turn off the lights. Close your eyes and place your hands on your heart. Visualize yourself filled and surrounded by a pink color. Take a few deep breaths. Feel the color soothing your being. Say aloud, I am love myself. Take a few deep breaths again. Soak for at least 15 minutes.

After you get out of the bath, pour a few drops of the aromatherapy blend into the palms of your hands and anoint your heart chakra (the seat of love: healing, grieving, acceptance),
and the third eye (integrating, detachment, connection with your Higher Self).

Awareness on Varicose Veins

Varicose veins are those irregular shaped veins that are most commonly found in the legs particularly in the calf muscle area. Varicose veins are found mostly on older women and recent survey and research indicate that it is found in largely in men than women.

Known cause of varicose veins

Varicose veins are found mostly in humans and not in any animals. This is because we walk upright than the animals. You should know that veins are responsible for pumping the blood back to the heart and arteries are responsible to pump blood to the different parts of the body. Gravity plays an important role in pumping the blood back to the heart through the veins. Sometimes the pressure in the veins is not sufficient to pump the blood back to the heart and some blood may collect in the veins. If you stand for a longer period this would appear clearly. Constipation, overweight, and pregnancy may also cause this condition. This leads to varicose veins.

Symptoms of varicose veins

Varicose veins are the first to appear before you see any other problem from them. Zigzag lines on the surface of the skin are the first appearance of the varicose veins. As days progress, you will feel the pain on these areas when you see these zigzag lines of veins. For some people swelling of the ankles and feet is possible. The skin on this surface may be sore and red.

Factors that affect varicose veins

Some factors influence the varicose veins. Some of the factors are age, sex, genetics, obesity, and the position of your legs for longer periods. Ageing causes wear and tear of the veins and this causes improper functioning of the valves of the veins. It is known that women are the most affected by varicose veins. It is so since women are subjected to frequent hormonal changes. Pregnancy, pre menstruation, and menopause are some of the factors in women that influence varicose veins. Varicose veins could be inherited from your parents. People who are overweight might get varicose veins since they impart more pressure on the veins due to their weight. People who are working while standing for a longer time may experience varicose veins.

Medical advice on varicose veins

Self-help would help you to prevent and complicate the varicose veins in you. Many self-help measures can be adopted to prevent varicose veins from getting worse. Most of the people would be very concerned about the varicose veins since it spoils their look. If the self-care measures that you take are not effective then you can consult your doctor for some other medications or therapies that might help you recover from varicose veins.

Fly Line Color

There are quite a few colors of fly lines available. Some floating fly lines are bright yellow, others are fluorescent green, and still others are a pumpkin orange. So, with all the fly line colors available, which one should you choose.

For sinking lines, it is generally best to choose a line that is darker in color, such as brown. While this point is open to argument and debate, most anglers seem to conclude that when sub-surface fishing, fish may be less apt to see a darker color fly line than a bright one.

However, for top water or floating lines, the color of the line is generally immaterial as far as the fish goes. Whatever the color of the fly line, when looking up, a fish is bound to see it except for at night (when a dark line may prove beneficial). A fish looking up towards the surface of the water will see the fly line regardless of the color since the line itself is lit up from the light of the sky - and thus casting a shadow over the fish. Since this is generally accepted (although arguments do rage on about this), it is generally best to choose a fly line color that is easy for YOU to see. Brightly colored fly lines are much easier for the angler to see, and seeing the fly line is crucial for successful fly fishing - especially when fly fishing with nymphs. This is especially true in low light conditions, where actually seeing your fly is almost impossible, and the angler must instead rely on the actions of the fly line.

In sum, for top water fly fishing, choose a fly line that is easy for you to see in all lighting conditions. For sub-surface fishing, choose a darker color fly line (most sinking lines are dark in color, so you won't have many choices!).

Abundance or Scarcity: What Belief Do You Choose to Engage?

For the last several years, I have included on my email signature the following salutation Peace and Abundance. This is a daily reminder that my success begins with how I engage my beliefs. For I know that it is my beliefs that drive my behaviors.

During a conference, one of my mentors shared a very simple exercise that I now use with my clients to demonstrate the power of how our beliefs guide what we shall receive. He asked those in the audience to take a sheet of paper and on the left side write the letter B for Birth and on the right side write the letter D for Death. Upon completion of this task, he then asked, What was in between? Answers varied from life to troubles. In his coy and quiet southern accent, he acknowledged every answer as being good, but not quite the one he was seeking. Eventually, he stated that what existed in-between birth and death was just a matter of inconvenience.

How many times have you visited the local gas station in the morning, swiped your credit card and upon completion of filling your tank, you failed to receive the requested receipt? The electronic message is displayed, Please see cashier. Maybe, if you were like me, you stomped up to the cashier's counter with not the most pleasant face and waited in line. As you waited, you looked to your watch and counted the minutes that this delay was costing you. Then, maybe, you gruffly said something like The pump said I needed to see you for the receipt or My receipt didn't print! The harried cashier printed out the receipt, you grabbed it, quickly mumbled hank you and walked out in a huffy hurry. As you entered your car, you were still very upset and those thoughts stayed with you most of the day.

Now, by engaging a mentality of peace and abundance, where we accept that we will face daily inconveniences, life begins to change. Yes, machines still fail to print receipts. However, now when you enter the gas station, you receive a smile from the cashier because you engage the belief that this is 'no big deal. Your attitude of peace and abundance has infected the cashier and she offers you a free coffee as well as an apology for your inconvenience. You calmly walk back to you car, receipt in hand and accept this minor inconvenience for exactly what it is - a minor inconvenience. You choose not to engage in a mentality of conflict and scarcity. The day begins with peace and abundance. Just imagine how far everyday you can go by engaging beliefs of abundance instead of scarcity?

Personally, I can attest that since engaging these positive beliefs of peace and abundance, I have received not only the pleasure of a smile, but offers of free coffee and even money. However, what is really incredible is that I now begin the morning engaged with myself and in control of what I allow to affect me.

As always, the choice is yours to make and yours to live with.

Banishing Your Critic

Whenever we start a new creative project, it's always a little scary. We're never sure how it's going to turn out. And that element of uncertainty is just the thing we need to get our Critic up and hollering at us.

The Critic also comes to visit when we start thinking about tomorrow's work, or yesterday's work, or the end result, instead of what we are doing here and now. Sometimes, it comes calling immediately after a visit with a well-meaning friend or relative, or when we are hungry or tired. My Critic likes to visit about 3:30 in the morning, frequently waking me from a sound sleep.

You know what I mean. Your Critic is that voice that echoes inside your head, telling you your work isn't good enough, you're not good enough, it's all a waste of time, it's trivial, no one will come, it will never sell. Everyone's Critic has it's own favorite issues. And our Critic's issues often get in the way of our work.

So we need to banish our Critic from our work space, whether that's a painting studio, a writing office, or a stage. But that's not easy to do. The Critic is stubborn, and usually returns after you think you've got rid of him for good. Here are some suggestions that might work for you.

1. Have a concrete representation of your Critic in your work space. When you start to work, move it out of the space or put it in a drawer.

2. Sit and listen to your Critic. Write down every negative thing it says, then either verbally or on paper refute each statement, whether you agree with it or not.

3. When your Critic starts to sit on your shoulder and whisper in your ear in the middle of your working, stop for a minute. Take a deep breath, then concentrate on all your five physical senses. What do you smell? What do you hear? What do you see, feel, and taste? By really paying attention to your physical surroundings, you get yourself out of your head, and into the moment.

4. Using a smudge stick, candle, or incense, devise a ceremony to purge your Critic from your work space. Perform your banishing ceremon whenever its voice gets a little too loud.

5. Draw a picture of your Critic, with a balloon coming out of his mouth. Write its favorite negative phrase in that balloon. Then burn the picture, rip it into shreds, or crumple it into a ball and step on it.

6. Talk to your Critic. Thank it for caring, but it needs to go away now. Politely but firmly ask it to leave. Keep asking until it goes.

7. Take a break. Go outside, and reconnect with the creative energies that flow all around you.

8. Go for a walk or a run. Go to the gym. Do something physical that will help you focus on now.

So the next time you hear that little voice whispering not-so-sweet nothings in your ear, get rid of it! Quickly. Then get back to work on what really matters.

Are You Really Ready to Telecommute?

Telecommuting is a big thing these days: no more commuting
nightmares, more time with the kids, more time for yourself,
flexible hours, increased productivity ... the list goes on
and on.

But what about the DISadvantages? And yes, there are
plenty! Working from home can be a wonderful experience
for some people. For others, it just isn't suitable. Some
of the difficult things about working from home include:

* Constant distractions: a dirty house, the TV, the eager
dog that wants to be walked ... you name it. Do you have
the willpower to ignore distractions and concentrate on
your work?

* 'Out of sight, out of mind': telecommuters may not be
kept 'in the loop' with regards to company announcements,
team issues, whatever. Plus even if you consistently
turn out excellent work, your co-workers and boss may
not see you and therefore they don't really associate
YOU with the high-quality work.

* Obsessive work: your home becomes your office, in a
way, even when you use a separate room as your office.
You may be unable to resist the temptation to do just
one more thing ... and before you know it, you spend
much more time working than if you were in the office.

* Pressure to 'prove yourself': telecommuters sometimes
feel the need to prove that they really are much more
productive at home than their coworkers in the office.
This can lead to long hours and significant stress.

* Lack of social contact: some people genuinely enjoy
talking to their co-workers. When they being to work
from home, they don't have that type of social
interaction anymore. It's very easy to feel isolated
and alone.

* Misconceptions about home workers: unfortunate but true,
there are people who believe that anyone who works from
home is really just lazing around and having a vacation
day at the company's expense. Can you handle remarks of
this nature from coworkers, or even friends and family?

Everyone focuses on the BENEFITS of telecommuting - no
surprise, since who wouldn't enjoy the comfort and
flexibility of working from home? However, it's important
to also look at the problems surrounding telecommuting.
Make no mistake, telecommuting is a change in LIFESTYLE!
Only you can decide if it's the right one for you.
